Bani Yas returned from Ajman with three valuable points after securing a 3-2 victory over Ajman Club in a match held at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium on Friday evening, as part of the 16th round of the ADNOC Pro League.
With this crucial win, Bani Yas climbed to ninth place in the standings with 19 points, while Ajman remained at the same tally, dropping to tenth place.
In the first half, Bani Yas needed only 13 minutes to impose their attacking intent and assert their presence in Ajman’s half. The home side suffered an early setback just four minutes into the game when their player, Abdulrahman Ahmed, was sent off with a red card. Bani Yas capitalized on the numerical advantage, scoring the opening goal through their foreign striker Youssoufou Niakité. The goal resulted from a long pass into the box by team captain Fawaz Awana, which Suhail Al Noobi headed into Niakité’s path, allowing him to slot it into the net. Notably, Al Noobi has contributed to the most goals against Ajman in the Pro League, with eight goal involvements (three goals and five assists).
Bani Yas continued to push forward, exploiting Ajman’s numerical disadvantage. In the 18th minute, Azar Markovic delivered a cross from the right side, which Fawaz Awana converted into a goal with a powerful header, marking his ninth headed goal in the Pro League out of a total of 16 goals. Despite this setback, Ajman put in extra effort to get back into the game but struggled against Bani Yas’ solid defense, who maintained their lead until the end of the first half.
Ajman came out strong in the second half, launching a series of well-organized attacks that posed a serious threat. However, Bani Yas remained patient, waiting for an opportunity to strike again. With both teams making substitutions, Azar Markovic extended Bani Yas’ lead in the 73rd minute by scoring the third goal.
Ajman responded with a late comeback attempt, determined to avoid defeat. In the 87th minute, the referee awarded them a free kick outside the box, which Milos Kosanovic expertly converted into Ajman’s first goal. Just a minute later, his teammate Leodirry Silva added a second goal for the home side, but the match ended with a 3-2 victory for Bani Yas.
With this result, Bani Yas achieved three consecutive away wins for the first time since 2014.
